Janhvi Kapoor To Do An 'Anju-Manju' Like Mom Sridevi In Rajkummar Rao's Horror-Comedy Rooh-Afza
Here’s good news for all Janhvi Kapoor fans. The actress, has joined the cast of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy film Rooh-Afza, which has her crush Rajkummar Rao in lead along with Varun Sharma. And guess what? The actress plays double role in it
After making
her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s Dhadak, Janhvi Kapoor has now signed her
3rd film, this one's with Dinesh Vijan. The actress, who will
next be seen in Gunjan Saxena biopic, which is titled as Kargil Girl, will
reportedly play a double role in this horror-comedy flick, co-starring
Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma. The double roles are quite similar to what her
late mother Sridevi played in Chalbaaz- Anju and Manju- two sisters with
contrasting personalities.
Talking about the casting of the film, let us tell you that interestingly, Janhvi had a small crush on Rajkummar. You may recall, in 2018, during a Vogue interview, Janhvi had told Karan Johar that she constantly 'Liked' Rajkummar's pictures on Instagram, so that he notices her. The actress was eager to get his attention. “I’m not sure if I should say this, but after watching Bareilly Ki Barfi, I really wanted Rajkummar Rao to notice me, so I commented on all his photos. He’s the only person I’ve asked for a photo with." Janhvi had told the filmmaker.
Meanwhile, on casting Jahnvi for the roles, Dinesh told IANS, “For 'Rooh-Afza', we needed actors who could jump into their roles with unabashed conviction. Rajkummar and Varun are phenomenal actors, comedy is a space they excel in and own. For the female lead, we needed someone who could portray two contrasting personalities with ease, and Janhvi stood out. She really connected with the script. Her talent is still raw, but she is excited about being moulded. The script is young, refreshing and totally crazy, and she is exactly that,"
While writer
and producer Mrighdeep Singh Lamba said, “We took some time to finalise the
female lead. Besides being pretty, she needed to oscillate between two
characters which are poles apart. You will fall in love with her in one scene
and won't believe she is the same girl in the next one. It's not an easy switch
for an actor. It's the perfect casting."
Taking to social media, Rajkummar Rao also welcomed Janhvi Kapoor’s on-board Rooh-Afza. He captioned his post as, “All set to bring to you this perfect mixture of horror and comedy, #RoohAfza! #JanhviKapoor @VarunSharma90 #DineshVijan #HardikMehta @mriglamba #GautamMehra @MaddockFilms @JIOCinema”
